Turkish fruit was known in Anatolia from the 15th century to the present, and from the 17th century it spread within the borders of the Ottoman Empire. Turkish fruit became known in Europe in the 18th century thanks to a British traveler. Previously, Turkish fruit was made by combining flour with honey or molasses. With the discovery and arrival of refined sugar and starch in the 17th century, the production and taste of Turkish fruit changed. By now, different varieties have been combined with different nuts and flavors.
